This package has everything you need to install the skid plate. Bracket and hardware are included.  We do recommend the upgrade hardware. (Aluminum skid plate and steel Bracket with standard hardware)

This is a skid plate designed to protect the belly of the V-stroms. Accessories like the HWY pegs can be added for extra comfort.

It is a Universal skid plate, it fits the DL650 (2011 and older), the DL650 (2012 & newer) and the DL1000 2013 and older.

The skid plate is Universal and will fit all center stands.

It is made of 3/16" aluminum and powder coated black.  Tig Welded on both sides. (inside and outside) then ground to contour on out side.

The bracket and hardware comes with U-bolts for the front install.  That is standard with all kits. Grind the U-bolts down once installed.  Don't let them stick out too much, If you bottom out the suspension, the front fender can get caught above the U-bolts.  Not a good thing.  Again, we recommend the upgrade hardware.

You have the option of using the Up-grade hardware for a flush look on the front and it's safer.

Yes, you can jack the bike up.  yes, the skid plate will hold up the weight of the bike.

And Yes, you have to take the skid plate off to do a filter/oil change.

I did not incorporate a drain hole, because they don't work.  Before you ever get that bolt/plug out, oil will spew every where.  Then you end up having to clean up an oily mess in the skid plate.  Plus, any holes on the bottom will allow objects to get in and sticks to poke through.  So I chose to not have any holes.  I want the skid plate to slide accross foreign objects with out catching.

Yes, you will need crash bars to mount the front of the skid plate.

Recommended crash bars for the 2011 and older: Givi crash bars, Happy trail crash bars, Moose Racing crash bars. (these crash bars will allow you to use the up-grade hardware with no problems.  they provide plenty of clearance between the crash bar and the engine) I ask that you double check on the clearance.  Crash bar designes change all the time.  Don't just take my word for it.

Crash bars for the ADVENTURE model(2012-2013, GIVI and OEM will fit great.  SW-motech will not work very well.

Other crash bar brands: Altrider, SW-motech, Hepco becker, Etc. (These brands put the front tube extremely close to the engine. Personalli, I'm not comfortable having a crash bar that close to the engine. (1/2" or less)  Not enough room for the UP-grade hardware and keeping space between it and the engine.  You have to install the front of the skid plate with the U-bolts provided for these crash bars. The Hepco Becker crash bar will require some alteration. ( I don't recommend them).  If you use the U-bolts, I ask that you grind the U-bolts down so they don't stick too far out.  It's dangerous to let them stick out too far.  If you compress your front suspension all the way down and your steering is at a specific angle, your fender will get caught above the U-bolts.
